The scissors made by blacksmith Shoji Umeki are completely hand-forged by hardening and hammering the steel.

The most distinctive feature of these scissors is their twisted blade, called "neri."
This "kneading" process sharpens the blades every time they meet at a single point.
This mechanism is said to eliminate the need to sharpen the blade for years and ensure that it stays sharp.
