We have received seed scissors from Umekimoto Seed Scissors Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

These scissors are completely hand-made, starting with the forge welding process. Today, Umeki of Umeki Hontane Scissors Factory is the only person who can preserve the traditional manufacturing techniques of Hontane Scissors and carry out all the processes by hand.

The most distinctive feature of Tane Scissors is their twisted blade, called "neri." While ordinary scissors have blades that are made parallel to one another, the blades of Umeki Hontane Scissors are bent in a smooth arc so that they meet at a single point. This "neri" creates exceptional sharpness and allows cutting with less force. As you close the blades, you can feel the blades rubbing against each other and being sharpened. It is said that this "neri" allows the blades to maintain their sharpness for years without the need for sharpening.
