The genuine Tane scissors made by blacksmith Shoji Umeki are a pair of carefully crafted scissors made from forging. They are completely hand-forged.

The most distinctive feature of these scissors is their twisted blades, called "neri." This "neri" sharpens the blades every time they meet at a single point, and it is said that the blades maintain their sharpness for a long time.
