We have received a new shipment of Ishihiro Seisakusho's "scissors a craftsman gave to someone special," made in their workshop in Tokyo's Sumida Ward, a place where Edo traditions and culture thrive.
These are unique scissors for everyday use, as they can be disassembled.
Ishihiro Seisakusho has been manufacturing medical scissors for two generations since its founding in 1970. Each pair is still handcrafted by Akio Ishida, the second-generation scissor craftsman.
Their series of household tools, including "disassemblable scissors" and "tailor's shears," originated from Mr. Ishida's desire to "directly hear customer feedback" and "know the reactions of those who actually use them."
In 2011, they were certified as a "Sumida Modern" product, a regional brand representing Sumida.
In 2012, their "tailor's shears" were used for the Tokyo Skytree tape-cutting ceremony.
