These hand-made soba cups are made by Inahoya Kobo, a studio located in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture. The soft, cute shapes and patterns, and warm textures are appealing. Each piece is carefully hand-formed. Shigaraki is known as a region that produces high-quality clay, and the traditional techniques that have been cultivated over its long history are still passed down to the present day. It is counted as one of the six ancient kilns of Japan.

As a soba cup

A soba cup with a soft hand-kneaded texture and star and stripe patterns. It is a great container for dipping sauces for soba, somen, etc., and it fits comfortably in the hand and feels good in the mouth.

Many uses

The Hoya Kobo hand-made soba cups can be used not only as soba cups, but also for making sweets such as pudding and almond jelly, and as chawanmushi bowls. They are also just the right size (φ8cm, height 6cm) for drinking tea or soup, making them a fun addition to your everyday dining table.
As you use it every day, you will begin to see the crazing that is unique to pottery. Enjoy watching the expressions on the pieces as they grow.
