The wooden lid is threaded by a craftsman to keep the contents securely in place. The container can hold up to 250mm of pasta and approximately 900g of pasta. Mokuneji is developing new products that combine "craftsmanship" and "industry" by using woodworking lathe techniques and precise thread cutting techniques. The wood is turned on a lathe in Yamaonsen, Ishikawa Prefecture (Yamanaka Lacquerware), and then carefully crafted one by one by artisans. The history of potter's wheels in the Yamanaka lacquerware production area is long, and the area possesses unique "decorative turning" techniques, which are said to number between 40 and 50 types. It remains a major producer of woodworking potter's wheels today, unrivaled by any other region.
