The idea that was granted a utility model patent and the technology that made it possible
The parasol, which expanded the possibilities of Kurume Kasuri, has been granted a utility model patent. The Chikugo Momen fabric used in Kurume Kasuri is dyed after temporary weaving, and once the temporary weaving is unraveled, finely striped threads are produced. These are then tied to create patterns, dyed, and woven using a method unique to Sakata Orimono. Different thicknesses and types of threads are used for the warp and weft, and the many "quirks" of the threads created during the preparation process create shadows and block ultraviolet rays.
Its high UV blocking rate of 99.3% even without any processing means that, unlike processed products, its UV blocking effect remains unchanged even with repeated use, and some people have been using it for 5 or 10 years.
Well-ventilated parasol
Parasols usually have a high shielding rate, but because they are processed, they often do not allow much air to pass through. However, parasols made from Kurume Kasuri "Chikugo Momen" are unprocessed and therefore allow very good air to pass through. Kurume Kasuri is a popular material for apparel because of its pleasant texture that feels good against the skin, but because of its shielding rate and good air circulation, it is also very suitable for use as a parasol.A collection of Japanese handicrafts
Chikugo Momen parasols are carefully crafted one by one in Japan. The upholstery is made by craftsmen at Sakata Textiles, the weaver, and the handle is hand-carved by a woodworker. Finally, an umbrella craftsman uses strong, lightweight carbon for the frame to complete the parasol. Chikugo Momen parasols are high-quality, elegant parasols made by the hands of many craftsmen.Image of a woman holding a parasol

● Precautions for use and maintenance
Since some of the fabric is dyed with indigo, it is not possible to stop the color from fading, but it is possible to slow down the speed of the color change. By the way, there is no data on the shielding rate when the color fades, but it is 83% for white items, so I don't think it will fall below that.
・Storage during use
When repairing your umbrella, avoid places with a lot of dust, direct sunlight, halogen lights, or other strong light sources. If you are concerned about the color retention, we recommend that you avoid using it on days when you expect to use it continuously for long periods of time in direct sunlight.
・Care instructions
Gently brush off sand and dust. Do not leave stains or dirt. Soak the dirt in water and wash it partially with a toothbrush or similar tool that has been used and a neutral detergent. Finally, wipe it off with a dry towel soaked in water and repeat the rinsing process 2 to 3 times. Finally, dry it in the shade.
How to fix it during the off-season
Brush off any sand or dust beforehand. Lightly wipe the surface of the fabric with a damp towel that has been wrung out tightly. Dry in the shade for a while. Once completely dry, store it wrapped in a cloth or paper that blocks light. Two or three layers of newspaper are also fine.
● Years of continuous use
It depends on how much you use it, but many people use it for about five years.
