Handmade fruit knife
This is a fruit knife made by Takahashi Kajiya, which has a workshop in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture. The Izumo region is known as an iron-producing region, where tatara iron-making has been popular since ancient times, and where the legend of "Yamata no Orochi" originated. Generations of blade-making have continued in this region. Tsutomu Takahashi, the fourth-generation owner of Takahashi Blacksmiths, continues to use the traditional forging method of "forging, hammering, and forging" to handcraft each blade.
This fruit knife was created following advice from Sori Yanagi, the director of the Japan Folk Crafts Museum at the time, who suggested making a fruit knife in this shape. It is a truly sophisticated masterpiece that combines beauty with utility.
The blade, forged by skilled hands, cuts surprisingly smoothly, allowing you to thinly peel apples and persimmons and easily cut soft fruits without crushing them. Another attractive feature is its small size and light weight, which makes it comfortable to use and fits comfortably in your hand.
As the name suggests, this knife is perfect for cutting fruit, but it can also be used for a wide range of other purposes, such as cutting tomatoes and cheese, and for simple outdoor cooking.
This fruit knife, made with a single steel blade, is not only sharp but also has an excellent design, and the more you use it, the more you will grow to love it.It is sure to be a great help in your daily kitchen work.
We offer free knife sharpening and handle replacement, so even those who find maintenance difficult can use our knives with peace of mind. (Shipping costs are the customer's responsibility.)
