We have received new soup bowls and rice bowls from Rokurosha, a company with a workshop in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, a region famous for producing Echizen lacquerware.
You can choose from two types: "raw lacquer finish" and "black lacquer finish." Both types of lacquer are applied by rubbing the lacquer directly into the surface, allowing you to see the beauty of the wood, without impairing the wood's ability to breathe, and the antibacterial properties of the lacquer prevent food from spoiling, allowing you to enjoy delicious food without worry.
Yoshio Sakai, a woodcarver, carefully crafts each piece, inheriting the traditional techniques of a woodcarver.
