We've received new soup bowls from Rokurosha, a workshop based in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, known as a production center for Echizen lacquerware.
They are available in two finishes:
・Natural urushi wipe-lacquer finish
・Black urushi wipe-lacquer finish

The appeal of wipe-lacquer, where lacquer is repeatedly rubbed into the wood, is that you can fully appreciate the natural grain of the wood. It allows the wood to breathe and the natural antibacterial properties of the lacquer ensure that you can enjoy your daily meals with peace of mind.
The bowls are crafted by Yoshio Sakai, a master of round wood turning.
Each piece is meticulously made, inheriting the traditional techniques of a master round wood turner.
We also have "Ransuji Soup Bowls" and "Rice Bowls" in the same series, so please take a look.
